Can AI read your product page?
Paste a Shopify product link. We check what ChatGPT, Perplexity and other AI assistants can read on that page, and show you how to fix what they can't. Free, no sign-up.
01
What the checker looks at
Seven checks, all read straight from your store. No AI assistant is asked anything, so the result comes back in seconds.
01 · Crawlers
AI crawlers can read the page
Your robots.txt decides which crawlers may read a page. We check the ones behind ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Claude, and whether your description is in the HTML they receive. Most of them don't run JavaScript.
02 · Product data
Product data AI can read
The machine-readable product record on the page (Product JSON-LD): name, price, currency, stock status, brand and image.
03 · Reviews
Review ratings AI can read
Whether your rating is in that product record, not only shown in a review widget a crawler may never see.
04 · Opening
The first 40 words
Whether the opening says what the product is and who it's for. In the US, ChatGPT's shopping results are reported to score a description on roughly its first 40 words.
05 · Length
Description length
60 to 170 words: the range of the small brands' product pages we've seen AI cite in the answers we collected.
06 · Facts
Key facts in the description
Size or quantity with units, material or ingredients, how to use or care for it, and labeled lines an assistant can quote as an answer.
07 · Title
Page title and meta description
Both present, the title naming the product, and short enough not to be cut off.
02
What it can't tell you
A page AI can read is the starting point, not the result.
The checker reads one page. It doesn't ask ChatGPT or any other assistant anything, so it can't tell you whether AI recommends your product, or which product it recommends instead.
Two checks look for words rather than judge your writing: the first 40 words and the key facts. Treat a fail there as a reason to reread your description, not a verdict on it.
Passing every check means AI tools can read and quote the page. Whether they pick your product also depends on your reviews, what other sites say about you, and the products you compete with.
Produkto measures that part across your whole Shopify catalog: which of your products AI names when buyers ask what to buy, and which products it picks instead. Book a demo to see it on your store.

Questions
About the checker and what it reads.
Is the checker free?
Yes. No sign-up and no email. Each check reads three things from your store: the product page, the product data Shopify publishes for it, and your robots.txt.
Does it work on stores that aren't on Shopify?
No. It reads the product data every Shopify store publishes, so it only works with Shopify product links, the ones with /products/ in them.
Why does a password-protected store fail?
AI crawlers can't get past a storefront password either, so nothing on the page can be read. Remove the password in Shopify under Online Store > Preferences when the store is ready to go live.
Which AI crawlers does it check?
OAI-SearchBot and ChatGPT-User fetch pages for ChatGPT's answers, PerplexityBot for Perplexity's, and Google-Extended controls whether Gemini apps may use your pages. GPTBot and ClaudeBot collect pages for model training. Some stores block those two on purpose, so blocking them shows as needs work rather than a fail.
Will fixing these get my products recommended?
Nobody can promise that, and we don't. These checks make sure AI tools can read and quote your page. Whether they pick your product also depends on your reviews, what other sites say about you, and the competing products.
What do you keep?
The link you checked and its result, so we know which pages the tool is used on. We don't save your IP address and we never ask for your email.
